For a writer, staring at a
blank page, or screen, can be like your feet if you step out in the snow
barefoot - frozen! This book of prompts can help unfreeze your
creativity by suggesting a line or an idea for your muse to work on
until it thaws out enough to write what you need it too. The bonus for
fiction writers is that any of these prompts could actually give you a
new dimension or idea to add to your work in progress! Separated into
four sections, "Writing Prompts for Fiction Writers" gives suggested
writing on three of the major disciplines in fiction writing - namely
character, setting, and dialogue - and finishes with a section of idea
seeds, general story line ideas for your own muse to mull over. In all,
the book contains 85 prompts, a character profile sheet (to create
characters to work through the exercises with should you not have a
novel in progress when you begin), and a brief overview/introduction to
each section.
